PROMOTER Tshele Kometsi should have had Johannes Salie and George Mdluli waiting in the wings in Kimberley as France "Fighting Time" Ramabolu will not be a good enough test, says Nkululeko "Bulldog" Mhlongo ahead of his fight with the latter on Friday night.

Mhlongo will defend his WBF Intercontinental junior middleweight belt against Ramabolu in the main bout of Kometsi’s bill at the Mittah Seperepere Convention Centre.

Salie, from the Western Cape, is rated fourth, while KwaZulu-Natal’s Mdluli occupies the spot below him. According to Mhlongo, the pair have made noises about facing him for his South African title, which he has held since 2011.

Trained by Sechaba Mabuya in Johannesburg, Mhlongo said Kometsi should have shared Ramabolu’s purse money with Salie and Mdluli so all three could form an orderly line and fight him on Friday to get the whole thing over and done with.

"I don’t think BSA (Boxing SA) would have objected because this was going to be very good for the sport. I will knock all three of them out in one night," said the champion. "France is still wet behind his ears, like a toddler who wears Pampers."

Ramabolu has six wins against a loss, but the boxer trained by Harry Ramogoadi has already won the WBA Pan African and WBF International belts in his fledgling career. While Mhlongo has boxed 84 rounds Ramabola has fought only 39.

A smart boxer, Mhlongo is also known for the quirky habit of hiding his right arm behind his back and fighting only with his left when he feels he has established a clear lead. He says Ramabolu will pay dearly for having called him a clown.

Ramabolu has said: "This guy is a clown and if he fights with one arm against me, he’s going to get knocked out quicker than he can imagine."

The fight will be broadcast live on SABC 2 from 10pm.

Rivals and Mpumalanga homeboys Koos Sibiya and Ashley Dlamini will fight for the vacant WBF All Africa lightweight belt, while South African-based Ugandan female boxer Nathaline Bania will oppose Matshidiso Mokebisi for the vacant WBF International bantamweight belt.

There will be four more bouts and the tournament begins at 8pm.

Elsewhere, Phillip "Time Bomb" Ndou and Ntuthuko Memela will fight for the vacant IBF Intercontinental Africa welterweight belt at Kibler Park Recreation Centre in Johannesburg tonight.

Promoter Promise Moyo will stage a seven-bout card. The tournament is due to begin at 7.30pm.
