A CAMP festival and the Rand Easter Show are some of the events taking place in Johannesburg and its surrounds this weekend.

The annual Soweto Camp Festival kicks off at Mofolo Park at Five Roses Bowl on Friday.

Lebo’s Soweto Backpackers in collaboration with organisers Black Moon Productions has moved the festival to a bigger venue this year.

Black Moon Productions CEO Thami Ndengane said the company had decided to find a bigger venue this year due to high demand they were unable to meet last year.

"Tourists love participating in this event as it gives them a chance to interact with the locals," said Ndengane.

The weekend also includes the Legends Festival, which is scheduled to take place at Mofolo Park. The line-up includes Bricks, Mapaputsi, Eltido, Pro Kid, Yonela, DJ Naives and Spectacular.

Ndengane said kwaito, hip hop, house and jazz would be played during the weekend.

Tsogo Sun, which owns Montecasino, said the Piazza would be transformed into a playground this weekend.

There will be treasure hunts, inflatable climbing towers, mini trains and visits from the Easter Bunny at the Piazza at Montecasino.

The annual Rand Easter Show is on at Nasrec until April 3. Joburg Tourism said the show was a "great consumer platform".
