FIFA has confirmed that is has banned former South African Football Association CEO Leslie Sedibe for five years and has fined him Sf20‚000‚ the South African Football Association (Safa) said on Monday. This followed a Fifa probe into match-fixing.

"Fifa has confirmed banning Ace Kika from all football-related activities for six years‚ Leslie Sedibe for five years and fine of CHF 20‚000‚" @SAFA–net tweeted.

"Fifa has also imposed a two-year ban on both Steve Goddard & former head of referees Adeel Carelse. All bans come into force immediately."

In October‚ Fifa’s ethics committee recommended action against Kika for his role in corrupt activities related to Bafana Bafana matches in 2010.

Kika was the first South African to be charged in a long-running saga, after it emerged that friendly matches Bafana played on the eve of the 2010 World Cup were fixed by convicted Singaporean match-fixer Wilson Raj Perumal.

Sedibe‚ who headed Safa during the matches under investigation‚ and erstwhile head of referees Steve Goddard‚ were also named in the Fifa report.

Carelse was the former head of referees.
