Songezo Zibi
Despite aspiring to be a journalist from an early age, Songezo Zibi’s first job was in corporate communications at Volkswagen South Africa as an intern in 1998. At VWSA he started out running the company newsletter, then became public relations officer for the company’s motorsport division before taking over as PR manager for the VW brand in Southern Africa.
In 2006 he joined Xstrata (now Glencore) as communications manager and became a member of the executive committee and social and ethics committee in 2010. He has authored opinion articles for various national publications on politics, the political economy and ethics.
In June 2013 he joined the Financial Mail as senior associate editor.
He was editor of Business Day from May 2014 to March 2016. He continues to write a column for Business Day.
