World business schools prepare for inaugural African MBA Indaba

Some of the world’s top business schools are gearing up for the first African MBA Indaba due to be held in Sandton in August.
The inaugural African MBA Indaba is aimed at fostering the development of African talent.
More than 800 entrepreneurs, venture capitalists, angel investors, business leaders and aspiring entrepreneurs from around Africa will attend the two-day Indaba at the Sandton Convention Centre.
Director of the indaba, Eric Wright, said the continent was on the rise and therefore needed more business school graduates to accelerate growth.
The indaba was seeking to bring like-minded people together in order to foster relationships and contacts with the hope that these could spur partnerships and lead to new ventures in Africa.
Discussion of Africa’s prospects will also take centre stage. Speakers will come from the likes of Discovery, Microsoft, SABMiller, Ethos Private, Google, Uber, Deloitte and Standard Chartered.
"Across the world, we see business school alumni creating innovative companies that employ thousands of people and in order for Africa to fully reach its potential, it will need to train and educate its youth in the fundamental principals of business," Wright said.
Some of the school that will be represented include Harvard, Wharton, Oxford, the Gordon Institute of Business Science, the University of the Witwatersrand, Stanford, Stellenbosch, Yale, Columbia and Duke.
In all about 20 business schools from across the world and SA will participate, many with the aim of recruiting students.
