R&B crooner Joe Thomas, simply known as Joe to his fans, has returned to SA for a series of performances, including a tour with the legendary US R&B band Boyz II Men.

With a career spanning over a decade, Grammy Award winner Thomas has won numerous other awards and worked with some of the industry’s legends.

While performing in countries such as Japan, Germany, France, Britain and being part of the "Seek Out" tour with fellow R&B crooners Charlie Wilson and Kem, the singer of Good Girls has also been working on his latest offering.

Like many of his peers, Thomas hopes to bring the genre of R&B back. His ultimate goal is to be remembered as one of the greatest R&B singers in the world.

Thomas serenaded crowds at Mapungubwe on Wednesday as part of SA’s Cultural Carnival. The festival started on December 4 and treated audiences to a week-long programme of theatre, comedy, DJs, hiphop and gospel.

Thomas is also scheduled to perform alongside Boyz II Men on the evening of December 22.

He is looking forward to his performance at the Ticketpro Dome (formerly the Northgate Dome), and says that his fans can expect old and new songs from him and a more "seasoned Joe" who is still the Joe people fell in love with.

"Africa is simply amazing and appreciative," he says.

"South Africans have a way of transcending love and energy across the globe! I simply love it."

When not touring and making music Thomas says he enjoys shopping and cooking. His message to young upcoming artists is "do something productive everyday and only that will take you to your goals.

"Everything good and bad makes us who we are. As long as I’m learning from my mistakes and growing with each right decision I think God will take care of the rest."
