Sorry Neil Emerick, I am with Keith Gottschalk on this one (The liberty to choose, Letters, July 5).

Taking you up on your points: I believe there is good reason to say that former RDP home owners who sold their houses used the proceeds for consumption, not to establish income-producing businesses, even if it is only anecdotal; the second buyer would not be in a position to mortgage the property to raise money because it would already have been mortgaged to make the purchase in the first place.

The point is not that black people shouldn't have the right to full title, but that the theory that any substantial number will use the credit raised on their land titles to become successful entrepreneurs is pie in the sky and fanciful.
